Describe how learning in this course helped you to meet Program Outcome 5: Advocates for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. (Extraordinary Nursing) Provide at least two specific examples. The course outcomes have prepared me to accomplish Program Outcome #5 Involve the patient and family in the formulation of management plans that align with their goals and perspectives of mental health and wellness. (PO 5) by showing how important it is to involve the patient and the family in the development of an effective mental health plan of care. This perspective ensures the most likely compliance leading to the best outcomes because the patient’s and family’s goals and needs are incorporated into the treatment plan (Cordeiro et al., 2020). The provider also develops a better insight into the needs and preference of the patient and the family by including them. The patient centered approach typically fosters a trusting relationship between the family, patient and provider which will also improve the communication needed (Demirsoy, 2021).
